Snowtrac 3 declared test winner in the leading European winter tyre testThe Snowtrac 3 has been declared the TEST WINNER in the most important winter tyre test in Europe! Every year the German ADAC, Switzerland’s Touring Club Schweiz and the ÖAMTC from Austria organise a major winter tyre test, These motoring associations, equivalent to the Netherlands’ ANWB, are leaders both in their own country and abroad. The winter tyre test which they organise is therefore a highly prestigious event every year.
Together with 20 other winter tyres from competitors, this winter tyre was subjected to various tests and came out as the top performer! This result earned the Snowtrac 3 the title “Highly Recommended”.

The safety aspect is very important to Vredestein, and that is evident in the new Snowtrac. A tapered diagonal groove has been used to improve the tyre’s ‘self-cleaning capacity’, and with the introduction of a new tread compound its performance in both wet, dry and winter conditions has been significantly improved in comparison with its successful predecessor. The Snowtrac 3 is not just in a league of its own in the area of safety. Thanks to the sophisticated new profile design, the tyre is even quieter than its predecessors. Moreover, the rubber composition of the Snowtrac 3’s tread compound is completely free from oils containing PCAs, which pollute the environment. The rolling resistance has also been reduced with this new compound. Once again, Vredestein emphasises with these improvements the importance that it attaches to a clean and healthy environment.
A step forward in every respectIn its segment the Snowtrac 3 is the best winter tyre that Vredestein has ever developed. A series of innovations, explained in detail below, ensures optimal performance. The Snowtrac 3 puts paid to all the prejudices that exist about winter tyres, such as the assumption that a winter tyre must produce more noise and steer less accurately.
Thanks to the use of the new tread compound, the rolling resistance is noticeably reduced. The tapered diagonal grooves optimise the tyre’s self-cleaning capacity, and they also ensure that the level of noise production is low. By adding an extra shoulder groove to a winter tyre, Vredestein has made sure that the wear pattern remains constant and even throughout the tyre’s whole life. This makes the tyre even more durable.
The Snowtrac 3 no longer has any traditional continuous longitudinal grooves, the whole width of the tyre is used for braking and drive power. The shoulder groove also provides more grip in the lateral direction on both wet and snowy surfaces. The new tread compound, which contains a new polymer in addition to those used in the Snowtrac 2, provides more grip during winter conditions.
The new tread compound produces very stable road holding. The tyre’s handling has been improved by a variable profile depth across the width of the tyre. A new type of longitudinal groove with a zigzag pattern of a constant width has been developed in the centre of the Snowtrac 3’s profile. This provides rapid water dispersal. The rounded footprint also provides fast and efficient dispersal of water and slush. Vredestein has developed a special technology for this purpose, to prevent aquaplaning.
