Which tyre tests

Because, Which is a subscription site we are not allowed to publish their full results, but please feel free to sign up to their services - money well spent! However their best buys seem to be common knowledge so let's look at these.

The Which tyre tests are extensive to say the least! They generally test 60 plus products in a range of sizes. Covering a range of sizes is especially useful as the tyre manufacturers offerings vary from size to size and some of these products are better than others.

Winter tyre test 2012

Which best buys 2012

185/60R14 - Vredestein Snowtrac 3

175/65R14 - Continental TS800

185/65R15 - Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D

195/65R15 - Continental WinterContact TS830

205/55R16 - Continental WinterContact TS830

225/45R17 - Michelin Alpin A4 & Continental WinterContact TS830P

Tyremen say "Continental has been THE winter tyre manufacturer of 2011/12, test reports have been consistently superb and demand has been really high. We are also very happy to see the Snowtrac 3 get another test win, it's still a superb product that performed well in a number of other sizes. It's a shame that the Wintrac by Vredestein is not tested often in the larger sizes as this is also a fantastic product. In the largest size tested the Continental TS830P came out really alongside the Alpin A4. We got fantastic feedback on the TS830P this year and although the Michelin is a good tyre too it's hard to justify the price."

Summer tyre test 2012

Which best buys 2012

175/65R14 & 185/60R14 - Uniroyal Rain Expert

185/65R15 - Michelin Energy Saver

195/65R15 - Vredestein Sportrac 3

205/55R16 - Continental Conti PremiumContact 2 & Uniroyal Rainsport 2

225/45R17 - Pirelli Cinturato P7

Tyremen say "A string of great results from Uniroyal with 3 best buys! Both the Rainsport 2 & Rain Expert have been awarded Which best buys status previously, this just shows that a few years on the product still stacks up against more expensive premium brands. The Vredestein Sportrac 3 was redeveloped in 2011 and has had a number of test wins also, it gets highly recommended when it comes to wet grip."
