Autocar - summer test 2010
Test size: 205/55R16
1st - Vredestein Ultrac Cento
=2nd - Bridgestone – Turanza ER300
=2nd - Continental Premium Contact 2
4th - Goodyear Optigrip
5th - Michelin Primacy HP
6th - Dunlop Fastresponse
They say “A narrow overall victory for the Vredestein Ultrac Cento. It was particularly good in the wet tests, where it matched the Conti, but it also did well in the dry, although not as well as the Bridgestone which ties with the Conti for a close second place.”
Tyremen say “We love it when Vredestein top the tyre tests! They are essentially a small Dutch company that make cracking quality products. This new version of the Ultrac is as good as the original Ultrac product with the added bonus of being super quiet.”
Test size: 225/45R17
1st - Continental SportContact 3
2nd - Dunlop Sport Maxx TT
3rd - Michelin Pilot Sport 3
4th - Goodyear – Eagle F1 Asymmetric
5th - Vredestein Ultrac Cento
6th - Bridgestone RE050A
They say “It’s tight at the top with the best 3 tyres offering similar results and good all round performance. Beyond these the Goodyear worked the best in the wet but was let down by dry performance and the Vredestein which topped the smaller tyre test came out 5th.”
Tyremen say “The top 3 in this test are all great tyres that won’t disappoint, this obviously comes at a cost though with the Continental generally not offering great longevity. It’s a shame to see that The Vredestein Cento didn’t do so well in the larger size with poor braking performance, however the Sessanta which they make in this size is a superb tyre which we tend to find exceeds the Cento’s performance.”
